pH Scale inquiry-based intro to acid-base

The color of a solution identifies if it is an acid, base, or neutral solution?

False, acidity is affected by pH and color is affected by litmus.

Which solution is basic?

D, more than one. Solution B and C both have pH’s that are above 7, therefore they are both basic.

Which solution is acidic?

C, because it has a high level of H3O+.

Which solution is basic?

B

Which solution is acidic?

It is more than one, A and B are acidic.

How will adding water affect the pH?

It will increase the pH.

How will equal amount of water affect the pH?

It will decrease the pH, the more water lessens the basicity which results in pH going down.

What is the order from most acidic to most basic?

C, A, B

What is the order from most acidic to most basic?

A, B, C

If spit has a pH = 7.4, what does that tell you about the water equilibrium?

Something was added that made the equilibrium shift left
